COMPSOC 2005 Elections Voting Open

Voting is now open for the 2005 COMPSOC Executive.
Voting will close at midnight, Thursday 7th April 2005 (Thursday Week 5).
If you're a Computer Science, Computer Engineering or CSE Postgraduate
student, head on over to
http://do.cse.unsw.edu.au/voting_compsoc/index.phtml
and login with your CSE user name and password to vote. Any other students
wishing to vote in the elections must pay a $2 associate membership fee
(email compsoc.exec@cse if this is you).
COMPSOC is your society, so have a say on who will be on the Exec for this
year!

Nominations are now open for 2005 COMPSOC executive positions. All members are encouraged to contribute their time and ideas to the running of COMPSOC.
The positions open are:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- CASOC Rep
- Women's officer
- Publicity Officer
- First Year Rep (x2)
- Second Year Rep (x2)
You can nominate yourself, or others you think would be suitable for a position. Send your nominations to compsoc.elections@cse
Nominations are open until the end of the COMPSOC AGM, Monday March 21st (week 4) at 2pm. Voting will open shortly after and will close at midnight on Monday April 4th (week 5).

COMPSOC Linux Installfest 1, 2005

The first CompSoc Installfest for this year is being held on Saturday April 9. Distributions we'll be installing
include Debian, Fedora and Mandrake but others will be available.
We'll be selling a variety of distributions on CD ($10 for a set) as well as CompSoc T-Shirts for $12 each (check them out here).
Otherwise, the Installfest is FREE for everyone.
When: Saturday April 9th, 2005 (end of Week 5)
Where: Oboe Lab, Ground floor Electrical Engineering building
Time: 10:30am to 4:30pm

COMPSOC Linux Installfest 2

COMPSOC will be hosting its second Linux Installfest for 2004 this upcoming
Sunday (August 15) from 11 am to 5:30pm. It will be held in the Oboe CSE labs
on the ground floor of the Electrical Engineering building [map]. We'll be open and FREE for everyone, but CSE students will take priority if we are pushed for time.
The distributions we'll be recommending for students include Debian, Fedora and Mandrake, but we'll also be willing to provide and install others.

CompSoc DVD Night! Friday Week 2

Ladies and gentlemen, CompSoc DVD Night is back!
Come celebrate the beginning of session with us before things start to get hectic with a great DVD chosen by you, and some cheap pizza!
When: Friday Week 2 (6th August 2004)
Time: First DVD at 6:30pm, Pizza at 8:30pm, Second DVD at 9:15pm
Where: K17 Level 1 Seminar Room
What to bring: You and all your friends! And $5-7 per pizza, to share between however many (or few!) people you like. We'll take orders on the night.
If you'd like to come along, or if you have any suggestions for DVDs, drop us an email at compsoc.dvd@cse. Of course, if you just rock up on the night we're not going to turn you away =)
